My books
I currently have 3 books out in publication: Dream Weaver, a memoir of my hitching experiences in the early to mid 1970's, Beneath the Turning Stars, a collection of essays that I had written for this website (see Essays for more information on that one), and Hurricane River: A Novel, about a life and death chase in the woods of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Lake Superior shoreline. They are available at Amazon and Kindle. The other books posted here are fiction that delve into the dichotomy between "real life" and the spiritual dimensions. I plan to publish at least a few of them within the next few years, and I'll keep the reader posted
I did not know at the time of writing that the first book, Dream Weaver, would be concerned with spiritual issues; Dream Weaver was meant to be an account of the crazy times of my youth in the late 60's and early 70's, an emic, or insider's, anthropological treatise on that era from the perspective of the Baby Boomer cultural rebellion. In retrospect, of course it had to do with the spiritual, for, for me and millions of others, that is what it really was all about. All the subsequent books deal with the spiritual as well. It has become apparent to me that they are metaphors - or mythologies - of my own spiritual path, one that I believe I can safely presume parallels the path of millions of others. Just as life is God's (or the Absolute's) metaphor for his (its) reason and purpose, so might these books reflect my own, the Dharma that has been allotted me as a human in this time and space. Read on, my fellow travelers, if this sparks an interest.
