Onward. In the recent terrorist bombing in Boston, both federal and Mass. state governments are loath - once again- to mention the term "Muslim Terrorists." There are perhaps good reasons for this on the international level, but Erick Holder, Attorney General, made it clear in a recent speech that his primary concern is to prevent riots and acts of violence against Muslims. It is an odd statement, as nothing of the sort even happened after the Al Quaida-planned attack on the World Trade Center, clearly a Muslim radical operation.
Following my own protocol, I do not intend to get partisan here, but rather to point out the mind-set of leaders in our country, and perhaps everywhere. That is, they picture the "masses" as a potentially ugly, fear-driven lot that must be managed for national security, and by 'managed' I mean that they believe that information must be limited so that the masses will not do foolish, irrational things. Examples of the masses behaving badly are legion - although some do so because of the demagoguery of these very leaders - but it seems only logical, especially in a democracy, that the limiting of information should be narrowed to include only those areas where the populace has shown a recent trend towards violence or panic. Such has not been the case regarding Muslims in this country, and so we may deem the precautions of the leaders - and their massaging of information - to be unnecessary and, let's face it, demeaning.
Now let's consider the far more methodical massaging, distorting, and limiting of information concerning UFO's. People who have experienced unexplained sights number in the millions. My own father, along with everyone in his squadron, clearly saw "cigar-shaped air craft that would hover and then veer off at right angles at incredible speed" while on a flight back from a mission late in WWII. The list of other credible witnesses, along with puzzling photos and videos, is legion. I will also mention crop circles, but will not mention abductions, the latter being simply too freaky and subjective. But the raw physical evidence of alien, or at least unexplained craft, abound. One retired officer of the USAF swore that he saw aliens at the crash site at Roswell, New Mexico, an incident that occurred in the late 1940's. He claimed he was forced into silence, and that now, nearing the end of his life, felt he had nothing to lose by telling the truth. English officers have been told the same thing about similar encounters. My father and the others were simply told that they saw nothing - and hinted that they would not receive clear (that is, "not insane") discharges if they spoke of it publicly.
It is apparent that the government wishes to cover up the investigation of such incidences. This does not mean that alien aircraft are necessarily real (although I believe they are) but the apparent lack of official curiosity about them is telling: of course they are and always have been investigating the more serious of these sightings. The security sections of official institutions are paid to be paranoid, and yet we are fed the same old unconvincing explanations about swamp gas, weather balloons and (aurora) borealis affects. Too many professionals - officers of the armed forces and the law - have sworn to events that range from suspicious to outright startling. And yet, all we get is a great yawn, a look that suggests "you're crazy" and then a change of subject. Recall that Jimmy Carter swore that he would tell the American people the truth about UFO's if elected to office. He was, and when asked about it by a reporter, he obfuscated the issue: more research on his part was necessary, and he would get back to us. He never did.
It all goes back, I believe, to massaging the public. We have been told for years by Believers that the government fears mass panic, and I believe that in this they are right; look again at Erick Holder's belief. We have shown no inclination towards rioting and killing Muslims on the streets of America, and yet this is gravely feared. But have we shown that we will go whack-o when given the information that aliens are, if not among us, then above us?
No, we have not, and I don't believe we would. Alien abduction is one thing - no one likes to be kidnapped - but what would happen if an official word was proffered that mirrored what millions have already seen over the past 65 years? It certainly would raise the spooky factor, but I do not believe it would be devastating. It is my own belief, gotten from others smarter than I, that at least some aliens exist on a different "vibration" level, as mentioned above. Yes, that would put them beyond our knowledge, but is that terrifying? Millions upon millions believe in a human - like god who might send them to hell for eternity, and yet these people have not panicked and rioted in the streets (at least, not over that). I find it hard to believe that we cannot cope with the confirmation of what most believe already, that we are "not alone."
It is my observation that people who riot are angry people who are simply waiting for the appropriate spark. There has been panicked rioting, though - I recall scenes in movies of the stock market panic in the late 1920's when everyone rushed to get what they could from the banks, but that is a very different sort of thing. And some will bring up the radio show "War of the Worlds" played on Halloween in the 1930's, where Orson Wells narrated a story of alien attack and destruction. Some people, we are told, jumped out of windows, while others blockaded themselves behind closed doors, shotguns ready. But this was not panic on a mass scale, and it was not panic over aliens, but over invading aliens. If we suddenly found a force of, say, 20 million hostile soldiers on our shores, I believe we would panic as well.
Which leads me to believe that either our leaders believe we are on the verge of an alien invasion, and so rightfully are protecting us; or that our leaders believe that they are not one of us - that is, that they are somehow above the normal cow-like impulses of the masses, given that THEY don't panic over such information. Neither is a comforting thought. Keep looking to the skies. FK
